Stenstrom Shirts

Jan 26, 2010

New Stensrom shirts have begun to arrive at Derks for Spring. Stenstrom is not only a new brand for Derks, it’s also new for Canadian retailers. Stenstrom of Sweden has been mastering the art of shirt making for over 100 years. Their core philosophy focuses on attention to style, comfort, and the last detail. Stenstrom has gone beyond the basic white shirt by utilizing luxury fabrics, distinct details, coloured seams, bold buttons, collar and cuff linings in contrasting patterns and colours.

They first opened by August Stenstrom in Helsingborg, Sweden in 1899 and have been designing and manufacturing high quality shirts ever since. By 1912 they were the largest shirt company in Scandanavia and quickly developed a reputation for quality and fashion. Stenstrom has since expanded their company to include accessories, boxer shorts, ties and women’s shirts.

Stenstrom is always looking for the newest fabric, weave and finish to keep their designs fresh. Silk, wool and linen are blended to add texture. Weaves such as poplin, oxford, batist, pique, jersey, bourette, chambray, denim and flanell give shirts a unique purpose and style.

The Nordic region’s five most interesting and intriguing young artists have been chosen for their confidence in Stenstrom shirts to design patterns for Spring 2010. The shirt designs will be hand sewn and unveiled at Enskilda galleriet in Stockholm early in the season and then will later be released for sale.

Stenstrom ensures that their shirts are of the highest quality by overseeing all areas of production in their Scandanavian factory. A team of skilled designers, cutters and tailors work together to create a quality shirt with an elegant fit. A stenstorm shirt is made in 60 steps and checked at five critical inspection stations. The detail to which strenstrom shirts are made is impressive. From knowing the exact amount of stitches per buttonhole to reinforced seams, they have a precise formula for making durable shirts.  To view the entire process a video is available online at www.stenstroms.com/en

We were recently in Sweden and my husband bought two Stenstrom linen stripped shirts. One was in lime green and the other was coral and white. They also had it in a purple/lavender and white stripe but it was not available in size medium in the stores we were in. Can you direct me to a site where I could buy him the medium?? MG USA
