Quick Tips & Tricks
Shoes: your shoes should be so well-maintained they look like new
Fragrance: a little bit goes a long way – avoid overdosing yourself. If you can smell your cologne five minutes after you’ve put it on, you’re wearing too much.
Coat: avoid wearing a down jacket with a dark wool suit. The result would leave looking like you have a pet that sheds badly or that you neglect your suits.
Lint: invest in a good lint brush. They’re cheap and make a huge difference in your appearance.
Jacket care: travel and jackets don’t mix well. Let your jacket rest on a hanger after travelling, and pack carefully.
Dandruff: if this is a problem for you, there are a ton of great products available to help. Talk to your hair stylist for the best options for you.
Smokers: air out your clothing after each wearing and keep breath mints on you at all times. Have a breath mint at least 20 minutes before a meeting. Non-smokers set the rules these days.
Nails: make sure your nails are clean and filed. Your hands play a large role in communication.
Body odour: use an antiperspirant or deodorant with a very light scent. If you are allergic to scented types find a hypo allergenic one.
Chewing gum: chewing and snapping/cracking gum can be very distracting to those around you. Keep your chewing to yourself.
Hairstyle: keep your style in harmony with your facial features and the image you want to project. Get advice from your stylist.
Jewelry: three pieces is the max – unless you work in a field where dramatic individuality is pretty much expected. Use discretion and avoid flash.
