Stain Removal Tips
The sooner you can deal with a stain, the better. If you don’t know what it is or the stain is quite large, take it to the dry-cleaners to have it professionally treated. Whenever possible, let your cleaner know exactly what the stain is. These tips will help for washable fabrics but won’t work well for dry-clean only fabrics.
Ink: use undiluted liquid detergent, sponge the stain with cold water to remove all traces of the detergent.
Fruit juice: stretch the stained part of a bowl and pour warm (not hot) water through the stained portion of the material. Keep in mid that some fruit stains change considerably with time and if you dry them, the stain become much more difficult to remove. If this happens, take your clothing to a professional.
Milk and/or coffee: small stains should be dabbed with a combination of warm water and liquid detergent. For larger stains, pour the mixture through the stain repeatedly. Wash the article thoroughly and check to see if the stain is gone before putting it in the dryer.
Tea: the key to removing tea – dilute the stain with hot water BEFORE it dries. If it’s not possible to soak the garment, dab the stain frequently with a wet pad. If the stain persists, take it to a professional.
